Vol. 573 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drug Treatment Services.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

223 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Health and Children the services that will be housed in the new Meath Community Unit, Dublin 8; and if there is to be a methadone clinic included in any of the services. [24426/03]

I have been advised by the South-Western Area Health Board, SWAHB, of the Eastern Regional Health Authority that the new Meath Community Unit will provide residential services for older people and will include 66 beds. A number of beds will be designated for respite. Provision for activity rooms for residents and a day care service for up to 20 people per day from the community are included. I am further advised that a primary care service will operate within the grounds of the old Meath Hospital, but that there are no plans for a methadone clinic to be established.
