Vol. 573 No. 1

Written Answers. - Air Services.

Joan Burton

Question:

234 Ms Burton asked the Minister for Transport his views on the report, PE 315.705-A5- 0263/2002, alternatively known as the Simpson report, adopted by the European Parliament which puts forward new regulations in relation to flight and duty time limitations and rest requirements for airline crew and is now before European Transport Ministers to recommend amendments; his further views on the fact that his Department would appear to have taken no action that would ensure an amendment to the proposed legislation to reflect the latest scientific and medical information available in relation to airline pilot fatigue; and if no changes in regulations will be introduced which might adversely affect the critical question of aircraft safety. [24551/03]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 320 on 21 October 2003.
