The renewal of payable order books for disability allowance recipients was intended to cover the 26 week period with effect from 1 October 2003. Due to a printing error, the order for 31 December 2003 was omitted. On 15 October the Department wrote to all recipients of disability allowance whose payable order books were affected. This letter outlines the nature of the error and what revised arrangements will apply. A problem of this nature has not previously arisen and steps are being taken to ensure that there will not be a recurrence. Arrangements have been made to issue a single voucher to all affected beneficiaries in good time for payment on 31 December 2003.
