Vol. 573 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Charlie O'Connor

Question:

174 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will liaise with Knock more national school, Dublin 24, regarding the future school accommodation needs of the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24379/03]

Officials of my Department's school planning section meet on a regular basis with the planning department of South Dublin County Council with a view to identifying the need for additional educational provision and reserving sites for schools where required. My Department is unaware of any shortage of primary school places in the area referred to by the Deputy. However, the area is being monitored by my Department and any need to increase school places in this area will be addressed by extending existing school capacity or through new school provision, as appropriate.
