327 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the assistance available from his Department for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who wishes to return to the workforce by first completing a part-time special needs course of 80 hours in the School of Practical Childcare. My Department provides means tested maintenance grants for eligible third level education students pursuing full-time, approved courses in approved third level institutions. As the course in question is a part-time course pursued in an institution which is not approved for purposes of my Department's third level maintenance grant schemes, the person referred to by the Deputy is not eligible for grant assistance.
