366 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science when a special needs assistant will be provided for a person (details supplied); the support facilities which can be provided to deal with the second problem that the person has in regard to noise levels; and if he will make a statement on the matter. On 10 September 2003, my Department approved the transfer of three hours resource teaching support from the pupil's former school to his present school. My Department has no record of receiving an application for special needs assistant support. My Department's Circular 24/03 requires schools to take full account of the resources they already have before applying for more. My officials will liaise with the school in question concerning the pupil's special educational needs
