Since 1999, a total of €46.5 million has been allocated nationally for out of hours general practitioner led co-operatives services in all health board areas.
A total of €7.1 million has been allocated to the South Eastern Health Board, since 1999, for the continued development of out of hours services which now cover counties Carlow, Kilkenny and south Tipperary. In 2003, a sum of €3.4 million was allocated which, among other developments, allowed the service to be expanded to County Wexford in 2003. Further expansion of the service to County Waterford will be supported as resources permit.
