Written Answers. - Driving Licences.
I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question Ref No.: 7810/03 of Tuesday, 25 March 2003 which sets out the position regarding the introduction of a plastic card driving licence. As is normal practice in projects of this nature the notice requesting the submission of tenders to supply the plastic card licence was published in the EU Official Journal. My Department is currently evaluating responses to the tender request. It is my intention that the card licence be in place as early as possible.
