Vol. 573 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rural Transport.

Pat Breen

Question:

529 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for Transport if he will consider using part of the funding allocated to Ireland under the Community Support Framework for community transport services between Kilrush and other parts of west Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25079/03]

I understand that East Clare Accessible Transport, ECAT, which is one of 34 community transport groups being funded under the rural transport initiative operated by the Department of Trans port under the Community Support Framework, has recently commenced two routes that serve Kilrush. I am informed that one route links the Loophead Peninsula with Kilrush while the second route serves Creegh, Cooraclare, Doonbeg and Kilrush. I understand that both routes are operated on Fridays by a local transport provider under contract with the ECAT.

Questions Nos. 530 and 531 answered with Question No. 518.
