I propose to takes Questions Nos. 543 and 544 together.

These are day-to-day operational matters for the operating company.

Question:

545 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Transport if he will require all private bus operators to ensure they have functioning security cameras installed on all of their buses. [25529/03]

I have not received any representations or complaints about the need for functioning security cameras on buses used by private operators licensed by my Department. The question of security on such services is an operational matter for the private operators concerned.

Question:

546 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Transport the criteria used by Dublin Bus in the allocation of new buses. [25530/03]

This is a day-to-day operational matter for the operating company. However, I understand from Dublin Bus that it generally allocates new replacement buses across depots based on the age of the oldest buses in a particular garage.
