143 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Defence if his Department is planning to outsource any of the services currently provided by the Air Corps; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25270/03]

The range of services currently provided by the Air Corps includes air ambulance, ministerial air transport, search and rescue services, Garda air support and military taskings. As the Deputy will be aware, the maintenance service for the S61 search and rescue helicopter based at Sligo airport and the new Garda EC 135 helicopter is provided by civilian contractors.
