Vol. 573 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Michael Noonan

Question:

233 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance his plans regarding a Garda barracks (details supplied) in County Limerick; if he intends selling the barracks; if so, whether conditions will be attached to the sale; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25802/03]

The Commissioners of Public Works are currently in discussions with the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform and the Garda Commissioner regarding the commencement of a pilot equity exchange programme.

Under the programme, private developers will be invited to provide new basic unit Garda stations, built to Office of Public Works specifications, in exchange for existing unsuitable stations in a number of locations in the Tipperary-Limerick area. The proposed pilot programme includes the Doon Garda station.
