Vol. 574 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Yield.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

236 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the headings in respect of which he is most concerned arising from quarterly returns; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26100/03]

The end-September 2003 Exchequer returns indicated that a shortfall of up to €500 million in tax revenue may arise at the end of this year. A lot of tax revenue has still to come in and my Department will continue to review the position regarding the expected shortfall in tax revenues in the period leading up to the budget. I will be setting out the latest outturn projections for 2003 as well as outlining the public spending parameters for 2004 when the Abridged Estimates Volume for the latter year is published next Thursday.
