Vol. 574 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

308 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding an application for the replacement of windows and the acquisition of a prefabricated classroom at a school (details supplied) in County Kerry; if the resources will be provided to allow this work to be carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26523/03]

An application for grant aid towards window replacement and temporary accommodation has been received from the management authorities of the school referred to by the Deputy. On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include the school's application in the 2003 school building programme. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on applications that could not be included in this year's programme. In the meantime, the school in question should, as appropriate, use its devolved grant to deal with any urgent health and safety works.
