Vol. 574 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Code.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

200 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance the position regarding income tax liabilities of a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [26761/03]

The return filing date for self-assessed taxpayers for the year 2002 was 31 October 2003 and consequently a very substantial number of returns are awaiting processing at this time. A return of income for the year 2002 from the person in question was received in the office of the collector general on 24 October 2003. That return will be processed in due course by his local tax office and a notice of assessment will then issue. If there is any tax due on foot of that assessment it will have to be paid immediately to avoid further exposure to interest charges. Revenue records indicate that there are no other taxes due by this person.
