196 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on whether it is appropriate for the Garda to breach the confidentiality of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 15; the regulations in place regarding same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am unaware of the basis for the Deputy's contention that gardaí breached confidentiality. Inquiries made by my Department with the Garda authorities suggest that this is not the case. If the Deputy wishes to elaborate on his suggestion I will reconsider the matter.
