168 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if there are arrangements whereby details of information submitted when applying for passports are exchanged between states, or whether access to any details furnished by an applicant are protected from access by the authorities of other states. [28833/03]

There are no arrangements whereby details of information submitted when applying for passports are exchanged between states. In Ireland, such information is regarded as confidential between the applicant and the Passport Office and is kept in full compliance with the Data Protection Act 1988.
