Vol. 576 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Galway Landslide.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

100 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has a role in providing assistance to farmers and residents of the Derrybrien area of County Galway who have been affected by the recent landslide in the area; if his Department has conducted an assessment of the impact of the landslide on agriculture and the agricultural community in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29215/03]

My Department is not involved in providing assistance arising from the recent landslide at Derrybrien, County Galway. The landslide resulted in peat lodging and blocking a watercourse which, I understand, has since been cleaned up. I am advised that most of the serious damage took place on forests which were owned by Coillte Teoranta.
