Vol. 576 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Fiona O'Malley

Question:

276 Ms F. O'Malley asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress being made to secure a permanent site at Tivoli Terrace for Monkstown Educate Together national school, since the Office of Public Works undertook a technical report on the site earlier in 2003. [29982/03]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works recently submitted a report to my Department on the site acquisition for Monkstown Educate Together national school. Due to the commercial sensitivity of the process involved, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on any aspect of the report at this time.

However, the report is being considered in the school planning section in the context of framing the capital programme for 2004. Any decision to proceed with a purchase is dependent on the financial allocation for 2004 and subsequent years and the competing priorities for that funding. In the meantime, my Department will continue to grant aid the use of temporary accommodation by the school at a rate of 95% of the cost.
