287 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the position of PLC students who do not qualify for grant assistance; if there is a travel allowance they can avail of or other assistance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30192/03]
My Department operates a means tested maintenance grants scheme for students attending post-leaving certificate courses, which is administered by the vocational education committees. Students with disabilities on PLC courses are eligible to apply for funding towards equipment and services from my Department's ESF aided fund for students with disabilities.
Apart from the above, there are no other moneys at the disposal of my Department for the provision of financial assistance to PLC students.
