Vol. 576 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Billy Timmins

Question:

401 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of personnel employed by his Department; the breakdown by county and number of the locations of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30182/03]

The number of personnel serving in my Department is approximately 3,282. This figure excludes staff from the Courts Service, the Irish Prison Service and members of the Garda Síochána. The precise number will be conveyed to the Deputy as soon as possible.

The other information sought by the Deputy relating to numbers of persons employed by my Department on a county basis and the location of the employment within each county, is not readily available from central records and could only be compiled by the disproportionate expenditure of staff resources relative to the information required.

However, I have asked that such information on the subject as could readily be gleaned from existing records should be compiled and forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.
