97 Mr. Cuffe asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her Department is considering new legislation to introduce civil sanctions for some competition law offences, as recommended by the National Competitiveness Council. [29957/03]

I am aware of the recommendation made by the National Competitiveness Council on exploring the feasibility of introducing civil sanctions for breaches of competition legislation. My Department is examining this matter in consultation with the Competition Authority and the Office of the Attorney General.
