Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the total amount of expenditure on consultancy by his Department in 2000, 2001 and 2002; the numbers of consultants engaged by his Department in those years; the steps which have been taken to reduce the expenditure on consultancy and the reliance on consultants by his Department in these years and for the future. 252 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the total amount of expenditure on consultancy by his Department in 2000, 2001 and 2002; the numbers of consultants engaged by his Department in those years; the steps which have been taken to reduce the expenditure on consultancy and the reliance on consultants by his Department in these years and for the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 251 and 252 together.

I refer to the reply to Question No. 431 of 18 November 2003, which stated that the information requested was being compiled in my Department. The compilation of this information is now almost complete and it will be forwarded to the Deputies in the near future.
