14 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Finance the progress made to date by the revenue powers group; if the report of the group has now been received by his Department; when it is expected that the report will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30099/03]
The revenue powers group has completed its review and its report was sent to me on 2 December. I am grateful to the chairman, Mr. Justice Frank Murphy, and the group for their important work and for bringing their considerable expertise to bear on the issues involved within a challenging timeframe.
The recommendations are being examined by my Department in consultation with the Office of the Revenue Commissioners. I will be considering the issues involved in the context of the forthcoming Finance Bill. I will make the report publicly available in due course.
