Vol. 576 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Collection.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

41 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Finance the progress made to date with regard to the negotiations between the Revenue Commissioners and the authorities in the Cayman Islands with a view to the conclusion of a tax information exchange agreement; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30094/03]

Since I last informed the House on this matter on 6 November, first-round negotiations between the Cayman Islands authorities and the Revenue Commissioners for a tax information exchange agreement were held in Dublin on 24 November. As the Deputy will appreciate, negotiations have only commenced and so it is not possible to comment on the likely outcome at this stage. The Revenue Commissioners hope that a further round of negotiations will take place in the new year but no date has yet been fixed.
