Written Answers. - Performing Arts.

Richard Bruton

Question:

225 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if his attention has been drawn to the lack of opportunities for young Irish people to develop a career of professional dance here; if he has proposals under consideration to create an Irish academy for the performing arts which would develop both the training and performance opportunities from the early years right through to full professional status; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31541/03]

Capital funding is not currently available to progress the development of an Irish academy for the performing arts.
