Vol. 577 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Complaints Procedures.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

257 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reasons the Garda Complaints Board cannot deal with the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9; if he has satisfied himself with this arrangement; the action open to the family concerned in order that they may receive an apology from the Garda; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31458/03]

The Garda Síochána Complaints Board is independent in the exercise of its functions and I could not, with propriety, seek to intervene in any particular case. It is, of course, open to the persons concerned to write to the Garda Commissioner in respect the matter at Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park.
