Vol. 577 No. 4

Written Answers. - Fire Stations.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

284 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the progress which has been made with regard to the application from Donegal County Council for funding to upgrade the fire service on Aranmore Island; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31504/03]

An application from Donegal County Council for funding for a new mini water tender for Arranmore Island has been submitted to my Department, which will consult further with the council on the proposal.

Fire cover on Arranmore is arranged by Donegal County Council, using an existing fire appliance manned by a retained service driver and a volunteer crew from the island, for whom training has been provided by the council.
