Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need for the Minister for Education and Science, Deputy Hanafin, to make further additions to the schedule of the Residential Institutions Redress Act, including the Morning Star Mother and Baby Home and Bethany Home in advance of the closing deadline this week.
I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the folly of the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Deputy Noel Dempsey, in proceeding with the Corrib Gas project in view of the findings of the Advantica and CPI Cupewich reports which confirm great danger to the Rossport residents and in view of the terrible explosion in Hemel Hempsted in which Shell was involved.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, that the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Deputy Martin, come before the House and state whether his Department has any plans to review safety and emergency procedures at all Seveso listed facilities in this country in the light of the major explosion that has occurred at Hemel Hempsted in the United Kingdom; and whether any such review in Ireland will pay particular attention to Seveso listed sites in the Cork region, the highest concentration of such sites in the State.
I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the outcome of negotiations at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Montreal and the implications for this country in terms of the radical cuts in greenhouse gas emissions we may have to undertake as part of any international agreement which will have to be put in place prior to the end of the current Kyoto protocol in 2012.
I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the strike of Dairygold Co-operative Society Limited employees at Mallow, County Cork, in view of the hardship being imposed on them and the failure of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment to resolve this dispute as the proposals before the employees are requesting them to reduce their existing wage rate and accept the minimum wage rate, which is not acceptable and is similar to what is happening at Irish Ferries.
The Deputy is the only socialist left down there.
I wish to request the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the immediate need to fully staff and resource the Garda vetting unit now based at Thurles to ensure that all adults working with and having access to children are properly vetted prior to taking up employment and to ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy McDowell, to make a statement on the matter.
I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, that there is an urgent need, in the interests of democracy, for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy McDowell, to explain exactly where the document that he gave to the Irish Independent came from, where it is at present, whether he received it from or passed it to the Garda Síochána; and how his action fits with provisions of the Garda Síochána Act which makes the leaking of information to the media a criminal offence punishable by up to five years imprisonment.
I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the recent explosions and blaze in England, and the inadequacy of the emergency services to deal with such an event there, which makes one wonder if the Irish emergency services would have the training and resources to deal with such an event if it happened at the fuel storage depots adjacent to the most densely populated area of this country at Dublin Port.
Having considered the matters raised they are not in order under Standing Order 31.
