Vol. 653 No. 4

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 32.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise the following urgent matter, namely, the threat to Ireland's economic stability caused by rising unemployment levels, with the live register set to pass 200,000 when the April figures are published tomorrow, and the lack of Government action to counteract industrial closures that have pushed the unemployment figures up to a rate of more than 5%.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise the following matter of urgent national importance, namely, the need for the Government to implement the recommendations of the Joint Committee on Health and Children in its seventh report, entitled The High Level of Suicide in Irish Society, to implement the recommendations of Reach Out — The National Strategy for Action on Suicide Prevention 2005-2014, to implement the recommendations of A Vision for Change — The Report of the Expert Group on Mental Health Policy, and to provide clear and transparent annual reports on progress and implementation of each of these, and to allocate a minimum sum of €10 million each year over the next five years for measures that reduce suicide.

Tar éis breathnaithe a dhéanamh ar an nithe ardaithe, níl siad in ord faoi Bhuan Ordú 32. Having considered the matters raised, they are not in order under Standing Order 32.
