Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Dara Calleary - the construction of a cath lab at Mayo General Hospital and the making available of an on-call cardiology team at UCHG to travel to Mayo; (2) Deputy Michelle Mulherin - the need to direct EirGrid to implement "Smart Grid" technical solutions as a pilot project to stretch the network capacity and minimise constraints in north Mayo and to facilitate the number of wind and biomass electricity generating projects; (3) Deputy Brian Stanley - the planning implications for the proposed building of wind farms in the midlands region; (4) Deputies Charles Flanagan, Brian Stanley and Michael Colreavy - the need for a review of planning guidelines surrounding the construction of wind farms in rural areas; (5) Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh - the negative effects in Dublin of proposed cut to CDYSP funding; (6) Deputy Simon Harris - DART fares to Greystones; (7) Deputy Barry Cowen - the impact of the winding up of IBRC on development bonds lodged by county councils; (8) Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl - the need to ensure that funding is restored to the Irish Patients Association; (9) Deputy Catherine Murphy - the need to address the delays that patients are experiencing when waiting for an appointment with ear, nose and throat specialists; (10) Deputies Kevin Humphreys and Dominic Hannigan - the need for the ECB and national central banks to return to the Irish Exchequer profits made on the purchase of Irish bonds; (11) Deputy Joe Higgins - the announcement from the City of Dublin youth services board that €600,000 of cuts are to be imposed on a number of youth projects; (12) Deputy Mick Wallace - the need to maintain a strong rural post office network in Ireland; (13) Deputy Thomas P. Broughan - the need to approve funding for the Howth-Sutton community council drugs and alcohol prevention and education project, Dublin; (14) Deputy Luke 'Ming' Flanagan - the future use of Harristown House, Castlerea Prison, County Roscommon; (15) Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett - the impact to youth services of the proposed cuts by city of Dublin youth services board; and (16) Deputy Dessie Ellis - the recent homelessness policy statement and the challenges which must be met in order to end long-term homelessness by 2016.

The matters raised by Deputies Charles Flanagan, Brian Stanley and Michael Colreavy; Mick Wallace; Barry Cowen; and Kevin Humphreys and Dominic Hannigan have been selected for discussion.
