Sittings and Business of Dáil: Motion

I move:

That, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders, and unless the Dáil shall otherwise order:

(1) the following arrangements shall apply in relation to the sittings of the Dáil on Tuesday, 28th and Wednesday, 29th April, 2015:

(a) there shall be no Order of Business within the meaning of Standing Order 26;

(b) Oral Questions to the Taoiseach and private notice Questions shall not be taken;

(c) matters may not be raised under the provisions of Standing Orders 27A (topical issues) and 32 (adjournment on specific and important matter of public interest); and

(d) private members’ business shall be taken for three hours on Tuesday and shall not be taken on Wednesday.

(2) the business to be transacted on Tuesday, 28th April and Wednesday, 29th April and the arrangements for the taking of that business shall be as follows:

Tuesday, 28th April, 2015-

(a) the Dáil shall sit at 1.30 p.m. and shall adjourn on the conclusion of private members’ business;

(b) Leaders’ Questions shall be taken at 1.30 p.m.;

(c) the Spring Economic Statement 2015 shall be taken at 2 p.m. and the following arrangements shall apply:

(i) the opening statements of the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform shall not exceed 30 minutes in each case; and

(ii) the opening statements of the spokespersons for Fianna Fáil, Sinn Féin and the Technical Group, who shall be called upon in that order, shall not exceed 45 minutes in each case, and such members may share their time; and

(d) Oral Questions shall be taken on the conclusion of the opening statements, followed immediately by private members’ business.

Wednesday, 29th April, 2015-

(a) Leaders’ Questions shall be taken on the conclusion of Oral Questions at 10.45 a.m.;

(b) the Spring Economic Statement 2015 shall resume on the conclusion of Leaders’ Questions, and the following arrangements shall apply:

(i) the statements of the Taoiseach, the Tánaiste and of the leaders of Fianna Fáil, Sinn Féin and the Technical Group, or a member nominated in their stead, shall not exceed 30 minutes in each case;

(ii) the statements of each other member called upon shall not exceed 20 minutes in each case; and

(iii) members may share their time; and

(c) the suspension of sitting for 60 minutes under Standing Order 23(1) shall take place on the conclusion of the statements by the Leaders.

(3) on Thursday, 30th April, 2015, the business after Oral Questions shall be-

Spring Economic Statement 2015 (resumed); and

Criminal Justice (Terrorist Offences) (Amendment) Bill 2014 [Seanad] - Second Stage.
