Vol. 1041 No. 1

Personal Explanation by Minister of State

It is understood that the Government Chief Whip, the Minister of State, Deputy Hildegarde Naughton, will make a personal explanation to the House relating to her concluding remarks on the Public Health (Tobacco Products and Nicotine Inhaling Products) Bill 2023 on 15 June. I call on the Minister of State, who has informed me that she wishes to make a personal explanation to the House pursuant to Standing Order 56.

I wish to make a short statement under Standing Order 56.

On 15 June, during my concluding remarks on the Public Health (Tobacco Products and Nicotine Inhaling Products) Bill, I stated, "The purchase of a nicotine inhaling product by an adult for a child is prohibited by this Bill." I wish to correct the record. I should have stated, "The purchase of a nicotine inhaling product by an adult for a child is not prohibited by this Bill."

I am grateful for the opportunity to correct the record.
