Vol. 1052 No. 8

Visit of Northern Ireland Delegation

Before moving to Leaders' Questions, I want to draw Members' attention to the fact that we have a very distinguished visitor in our Gallery today, the Northern Ireland Assembly Speaker, Mr. Edwin Poots MLA. Mr. Poots is most welcome.

Speaker Poots has given distinguished and dedicated service since he was first elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly way back in 1998 and is one of just two remaining members elected on that occasion.

Speaker Poots, I very much look forward to working with you, as I worked with your predecessors, my good friend, Mr. Robin Newton, and Mr. Alex Maskey. I suppose I can say that in the best traditions of this island, both North and South, the door of this House will always be open to you and the kettle will always be on the boil.
