JOINT COMMITTEE ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY SECURITY debate -
Wednesday, 16 Sep 2009

Business of Joint Committee.

As I am very conscious that we will be tied up in the Dáil very soon, I want to get on with the business of the meeting. I formally welcome Deputy Wallace and thank Senator Leyden for sitting in to reach the necessary Seanad quota.

The first item on the agenda is the minutes of the previous meeting which have been circulated. Are they agreed to?

I wish to raise a point. I suggested inviting Spirit of Ireland and the Irish Academy of Engineering. The third group is Energy Needs Ireland which comprises students from UCD and whose website address I can give to the secretariat. They have carried out a study of the proposals of the Irish Academy of Engineering and it would be useful to meet them because the study has a lot of interesting things in it. It would be good to meet all three groups together.

Will the Deputy communicate with the secretariat on the matter?

Yes. However, as they are not engineers, the minutes will have to be changed.

We will do that. I will deal with correspondence after we have met our guests.
