JOINT COMMITTEE ON ENVIRONMENT AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT debate -
Wednesday, 24 Nov 2004

Business of Joint Committee.

We are nearing the end of the year and there are a few ongoing inquiries, particularly with regard to EU directives on genetically modified products, a matter we will deal with today. House prices will be placed on our agenda, as will the price of building land, two issues on which reports are due. The report of the All-Party Committee on the Constitution has been published. We will need to examine the forthcoming reports — the NESC report and the Goodbody report commissioned by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government — at some stage in the future in considering the various issues arising from house prices and the price of building land. At the end of the meeting I will also make a proposal regarding the M3 motorway, a matter we have been considering and to which we will return at a later stage.
