JOINT COMMITTEE ON ENVIRONMENT AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT debate -
Wednesday, 22 Jun 2005

Business of Joint Committee.

The Planning and Development (Amendment) Bill 2005, in my name, passed Second Stage. This legislation deals with the problem of unfinished housing estates. It was referred to the Select Committee on the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. Will the Chairman examine when it will be scheduled for Committee Stage?

It is an urgent issue.

It is a matter for the select committee. We have been in contact with the Department regarding the Bill and the Water Services Bill but we have not received a response from it on either one.

I appreciate that once July arrives, there will be some timetabling issues and people's availability will vary. I assume that some select committee business will be done during the summer recess. I would like to see the Bill on the list for consideration at that point.

We will contact the Department again and then we can make our decision on it.

The joint committee went into private session at 4.13 p.m. and adjourned at 4.14 p.m. sine die.
