Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht debate -

Business of Joint Committee

As we have a quorum of six members, including at least one TD and one Senator, I call the meeting to order. I advise members that they must switch off their mobile telephones. RTE has indicated to the Houses of the Oireachtas that if interference is caused by mobile telephones, it will not cover any part of the proceedings. Therefore, it is in all our interests that all mobile telephones are switched off. I remind members that we are in public session. Apologies have been received from Senator Fiach Mac Conghail.

I propose that we go into private session to deal with items Nos. 1 to 6 on the agenda. Is that agreed? Agreed.

The joint committee went into private session at 2.25 p.m. and resumed in public session at 3.25 p.m.
