The sub-committee has received a letter from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government regarding COM (2006) 531, confirming that citizens of the European Union are entitled to vote and contest local elections in the member state in which they are resident. As agreed at the last meeting, this information will be forwarded to each joint committee for its information.
