Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals.

No. 1 is scrutiny of EU legislative proposals, a number of which have come before the committee for consideration. There are no adoptive measures. No. 2 is proposals proposed for no further scrutiny and to be noted, including COM (2008) 438, COM (2008) 439, COM (2008) 440, COM (2008) 441, COM (2008) 445 and COM (2008) 446. It is recommended that these proposals do not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed. It is recommended that COM (2008) 489 does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed. It is recommended that COM (2008) 509 does not warrant scrutiny.

While COM (2008) 524 has a positive significance in terms of strengthening co-operation between the EU and the Palestinian Authority and in the socio-economic development of Palestine, there are no major implications for Ireland. It is therefore proposed that the proposal does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

No. 3 is proposals for no further scrutiny but which are proposed to be sent to sectoral committees for information and includes COM (2008) 458. It is proposed that the proposal does not warrant further scrutiny and that it be forwarded to the Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment and the Joint Committee on Finance and the Public Service for information. Is that agreed? Agreed. It is recommended that COM (2008) 462 requires no further scrutiny and that it be forwarded to the Joint Committee on Environment, Heritage and Local Government for information. Is that agreed? Agreed.

There are no CFSP measures, no Title VI or Title IV measures and no early warning notices. There are no items for further scrutiny under No. 7 and no proposals under No. 8 for forwarding to sectoral committees for observations.
