JOINT COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND TRADE debate -
Wednesday, 25 Jan 2012

Business of Joint Committee

Apologies have been received from Deputy Maureen O'Sullivan, Senator Deirdre Clune and Deputy Michael McNamara. The latter two cannot attend today as they are at the Council of Europe meeting in Strasbourg. Apologies have also been received from Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl and Senator Jim Walsh who I presume are attending the funeral of the father of the Fianna Fáil leader in Cork. On behalf of the committee I offer my sincere sympathy to Deputy Micheál Martin and the Martin family on their loss. Deputy Martin is a former Minister for Foreign Affairs.

I remind members and those in the Visitors' Gallery to ensure their mobile telephones are switched off completely for the duration of the meeting, as they cause interference with the recording equipment even when in silent mode. I ask that everybody respect this instruction and ensures his or her telephone is switched off completely.

Are the minutes of the meeting of 11 January, which have been circulated to all members, agreed? Agreed.
