Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals

We are now in public session. We need to deal with item No. 6, which we discussed in private session, namely, scrutiny of the EU proposals for the record. Before we begin our engagement with the Department, we will agree the decision taken on the proposal COM (2016) 765 for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2010/31/EU on the energy performance of buildings. The committee is now satisfied there are no subsidiary issues.

However, it is proposed that this proposal warrants further scrutiny. It is proposed that the officials from the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government be invited to attend a meeting with the committee to brief members on the detail of the proposal and in particular, to address any concerns the Department may have. It is also proposed that this proposal and the decision taken today by the committee be sent to the Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment for its information. Is that agreed? Agreed.
