Business of Joint Committee

Apologies have been received from Deputy Jonathan O'Brien, for whom Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh will attend in substitution. Senator Denis O'Donovan has been discharged from the committee and Senator Katherine Zappone has been appointed to replace him. There are three items on today's agenda. We will first discuss with the Minister a motion from the Dáil regarding an agreement between the European Union and the USA on the use and transfer of passenger name records, PNR, to the US Department of Homeland Security. This will be followed by a discussion with the Minister on the independent report into matters related to the deaths of Corporal Fintan Heneghan, Private Mannix Armstrong and Private Thomas Walsh in Lebanon on 21 March 1989. Our final discussion with the Minister will be on the review of the Reserve Defence Force. Briefing documents have been circulated to members.
