I take this opportunity to congratulate Deputy Ardagh on his appointment to the responsible position of Chairman of this important committee. I hope he has a happy, constructive and productive period in the chair.
I propose Deputy Paul McGrath for the position of vice-Chairman.

I thank the Chairman for his good wishes and I, too, congratulate him on being elected Chairman of the committee. I was not a member of the previous committee, but I look forward to working with him. I know we will have a busy four or five years ahead and we will work to the best of our ability to ensure the business which has to be done is done in an efficient manner.
