SECTION 19.

Question proposed: "That section 19 stand part of the Bill."

This section sets out the duties of a bankrupt. It is generally in accordance with existing law and practice relating to the delivery up by the bankrupt of his property and books of account to the official assignee and assisting him in administering the estate. The bankrupt's statement of affairs is statutorily provided for. He must file it in the Central Office and deliver a copy of it to the Official Assignee. It is proposed to provide in the new bankruptcy rules for a simplified form of statement of affairs as recommended by the committee. In addition, the section expressly imposes a duty on the bankrupt to disclose after-acquired property. Failure to do so is made an offence under section 122.

Question put and agreed to.
