JOINT COMMITTEE ON SOCIAL AND FAMILY AFFAIRS debate -
Tuesday, 12 Nov 2002

Vol. 1 No. 1

Election of Vice-Chairman.

I congratulate the Chairman on his election. It is an important position and I know he will do a fair and firm job on behalf of those who depend on us. I propose Deputy Donal Moynihan for the position of vice-Chairman.

I also congratulate Deputy Penrose on his appointment as Chairman and second Deputy Wallace's proposal of Deputy Moynihan as vice-Chairman.

Deputy Moynihan is proposed and seconded. Are there any other nominations? As there are no other nominations, I deem Deputy Moynihan elected as vice-Chairman of the Joint Committee on Social and Family Affairs.

I thank the members for nominating me and electing me as Vice-Chairman. I look forward to working with the Chairman and the committee. I am sure the Chairman will make my job easy as he will be in the Chair at all times.

When I am not, I will know I have a reliable deputy. I thank Deputy Moynihan and all the members for their co-operation.

The joint committee adjourned at 2.07 p.m.
