Business of Joint Committee.

Apologies have been received from the Chairman, Deputy Seán Fleming, Deputy John O'Donoghue and Senator Camillus Glynn. I remind members that we must leave this room by 2.30 p.m. as it is required for another meeting. We may not get around to dealing with one or two of the items in this short timeframe.

The minutes of 23 March have been circulated. Are they agreed? Agreed. The next item is correspondence and it is proposed to note the Europe's World Newsletters of 13 March 2010 and 19 March 2010.

The next item is European policy updates. It is proposed to note GlobeNet magazine. It is also proposed to note an objection to proposals to lower the water level at the River Shannon.

Resilient Cities 2010 is the first annual global forum on urban resiliency and adaptation to climate change for all actors involved in the field of adaptation, to be held in Bonn, Germany, on 28 to 30 May 2010. We will e-mail the agenda. Deputy Bannon is interested in making the trip so we will refer the matter to the convenors.

It is proposed to note a reply to submissions on planning policy made by the UCC students Ms Elizabeth Harris and Ms Síle Hayes, which were forwarded for comment at our meeting on 16 February. It is also proposed to note a ministerial direction in the draft development plan. The next item is a letter following up on a visit by the joint committee to UCC, which is noted. A letter following up on a presentation to the joint committee and responding to questions asked is also noted. A letter replying to a query raised at the joint committee is also noted. The next item is a submission on behalf of the executive committee of LAMA, which is also noted.

There is one circular on fire service standard operational guidelines, which is noted.
