DEPUTY BRENDAN GRIFFIN IN THE CHAIR.

I remind members, witnesses and persons in the Public Gallery to turn off their phones as distinct from putting them on flight mode because they interfere with the recording and broadcasting equipment.

Given the committee's responsibility for oversight on matters relating to sport, I record the committee's congratulations to the Irish rugby team for last Saturday's spectacular and historic victory over the All Blacks in Chicago. I hope we will not have to wait for another 112 years for the next victory. It is nice to be able to pass on such congratulations. We also have a member of the committee who completed the Dublin city marathon recently and I pass on congratulations to him.

I did not win.

Perhaps next year we could do it as a committee. We could do a relay.

The committee considered COM(2016)235 which seeks to implement an agreement between the social partners in the fishing sector concerning the Work in Fishing Convention 2007 of the International Labour Organization. The committee has decided to seek certain clarifications from the Department on this matter before making a decision.
