Vol. 5 No. 10

SEANAD IN COMMITTEE. - BUSINESS OF THE SEANAD.

It was announced when we decided to adjourn until 3 o'clock on Tuesday that one of the items to be considered on that day would be the Report Stage of the Arterial Drainage Bill. As you are aware, A Chathaoirligh, when we were discussing this Bill on the Committee Stage there was an important question in connection with it which was reserved for the Report Stage. Perhaps you are not aware that the Local Government elections are taking place throughout the country on Tuesday next and that many of us cannot attend here. I cannot be here if I am going to exercise my duty as a voter on that day.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

You would like the Arterial Drainage Bill to stand over till Thursday?

I would. I know there are other Senators in the same position as I am.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

Very well; that will be left over. Perhaps the Minister would also wish to have the Shannon Electricity Bill left over.

I would like that the Seanad should be ready to deal with that Bill on Tuesday, as it is more than certain, definitely certain, that I shall be engaged on Thursday when the Estimate for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce will be taken in the Dail.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

Then we will take the Shannon Electricity Bill on Thursday.

The Seanad adjourned at 1.40 p.m. to 3 o'clock on Tuesday, 23rd June.
