Vol. 6 No. 4

COMMITTEE OF SELECTION.

CATHAOIRLEACH

I also have to announce that the Committee of Selection, at its meeting yesterday, appointed the following members to serve on the Select Committee on the Adaptation of Charters Bill, 1925:— Senators Douglas, Farren, Guinness, Jameson, Sir John Keane, Moran, and Mrs. Wyse Power; and the following members to serve on the Select Committee on the River Owenmore Drainage Bill, 1925:—Senators Sir Nugent Everard, Foran, Jackson, Sir John Keane, Colonel Moore and O'Hanlon.

I regret that I cannot serve on the River Owenmore Drainage Bill Committee as I am largely interested in water-power rights, and questions might arise which might make my position on that Committee somewhat difficult.

I regret that I cannot serve on the Committee dealing with the Adaptation of Charters Bill, as I am going abroad to-morrow and will be absent for three weeks.

CATHAOIRLEACH

In regard to Senator Jackson's statement, if he has any interest, direct or indirect, in the operations of the Bill, it is quite in order for him to mention it. Perhaps the House would agree that Senator Sir John Griffith would be a good substitute for him if he agreed to take his place. Perhaps Sir John Griffith could tell us if he is willing to serve.

I am.

Sir John Griffith's name was accordingly substituted for that of Senator Jackson on the Select Committee on the River Owenmore Drainage Bill, 1925.

CATHAOIRLEACH

With regard to the other Committee, I do not suppose that it will meet before the end of next month.

Then that will be all right, as I hope to be back in Ireland by the 12th January.
